Professor Willem De Beer (UK), PhD Chem , is a Senior Analytical Chemist with over 35 years of academic and industrial experiences in Analytical and Chemical Laboratory Management , Statistical Analysis of Laboratory Data , Analytical Chemistry , Gas Chromatography , Mass Spectrometry , Statistical Method Validation and Laboratory Auditing . He is currently the Senior Professor Extra Ordinaire and the Head of the Department of Chemistry at Tshwane University of Technology .

Dr. De Beer does lectures on Laboratory Management conferences in different countries all over the world including the USA and various parts of Europe . He does about eight (8) courses per year on-site the premises of various chemical industries . Prior to his experiences in the academe, Dr. De Beer was an Analytical Chemist in the Bureau of Standards .

Recently, Dr. De Beer has been the recipient of the ALMA Laboratory Manager Award of 2007 for having demonstrated accomplishments , publications and presentations in the areas of laboratory management . Much earlier, he was appointed as Director for Seismological Services due to his extensive experience in seismicity and for the past years has managed projects aimed at the implementation of fundamental seismological principles , including a seismological hazard analysis unit .

Dr. De Beer has a PhD, MSc and BSc degrees in Chemistry . He is an active member of SACNAS and an executive member and ex Chairman of the globalization committee of ALMA . He has twenty-nine (29) Chemistry and Laboratory Management publications in various recognized journals worldwide.
