Professor Dirk Ackermann (UK) MSc , BSc is a Senior Electronic & Automation Control Engineer with over 25 years of extensive and practical experience in Power Electronics , Electrical Machines , Analogue Electronics , Digital Electronics , Signal Processing , Telecommunications , Non-Linear Dynamic Systems , Software Enhancements , TCP/IP , 8051 Micro-controllers and Assembler & C for Embedded Systems. Currently, he provides technical consultancy services and lectures on Telecommunications , Electrical Machines and Power , Digital & Analogue Electronics & Automations to various international companies and prestigious technological universities . Further, he is the Senior Professor of Electronics Engineering at the North West University .
 
 

During his career life, Dr. Ackermann was the Senior Engineer & Automation Controls Manager assigned for National Railways where he was in-charge for controls decision at the designing stage , programming and setting up all controls , all troubleshooting , testing , developing , changing, tuning and commissioning. He was likewise responsible for the design of the controller and switchgear for a railway signalling , automated diesel-generator ( 250kVA 380V ) standby plant ; the development of a computer interface including microcontrollers for hydraulic pressures and the electronic circuitry for activation of the valves for the hydraulic motors ; the implementation of safety operating conditions for a mesh-connected power distribution network & modifications on various classes electric locomotives based on failure analysis and measure data to reduce the failure rate of the relevant electric locomotive fleet ; maintenance of a fleet of high-tech electric locomotives in conformance to manufacturer's specifications and the Occupational Health and Safety Act ( OHSA ); and perform acceptance tests for a new class of dual mode high-tech locomotives .

Dr. Ackermann has a PhD in Electronic Engineering and Masters & Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering . He is an esteemed member of the Engineering Council and the Institute for Electrical and Electronic Engineers ( IEEE ). His designs and scientific contributions has been well-sought of and highly regarded with the Power Engineering Conference and the European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications ( EPE ). Furthermore, he has successfully written and co-written nine national and international conference papers on Measurements , Telecommunications and Signal Processing .
